A drawing finds a new surface.

Graphics designed for knife blades, then laser-engraved by a knifemaker in Australia.

Designed for the blade

The dimensions of a blade create a particular drawing space. I developed the graphics around that shape, working with the surface as part of the composition. The result carries the detail of a drawing into an object made to be held and used.

Made with a specialist

A knifemaker in Australia made the knives and carried out the laser engraving. My contribution was the graphic design, prepared to fit the blades.

A starting point for other objects

An individual design can begin with a surface, a person or an occasion. The scale and material become part of the creative problem. I welcome conversations about other objects that could carry a drawing.
